By John Gibson. Venue 23 – King Dome at Pleasance Dome
Beckett-King is a pro. Although this may seem like stating the obvious (in an arts festival with nearly three thousand shows), it is not. His mastery of his persona and material is striking, and I found myself grinning immediately as he launched into his well-honed gags about his appearance (fitting into any period of history with associated impersonations).
What makes Beckett-King the perfect embodiment of the contemporary comic is his slick and well-conceived use of bespoke animations that play at random intervals, but perfectly compliment the world and ideas he depicts.
Quality.
