A solo theatre show is a tough sell nowadays, especially in a world of influencers who think that filming themselves by swapping their phone angles is ‘doing characters’. Anyone who actually attempts live theatre in this manner (of playing multiple roles), should be applauded. Sadly, this Dickensian ghost story doesn’t have compelling characters even worth the bother of acting out. Also, Blue Orange Theatre doesn’t seem to be promoting the show very well, since it has no mention of it on any of its socials, so I can’t even praise the sterling work of the actor playing Dickens, who managed to squeeze some interesting moments out of the tired characters.
