Content writers wanted for our magazine
Hello! We are putting a call-out for writers / bloggers who would like to write content for our website.
Gonzo Magazine is an unfunded/not-for-profit, volunteer-led online arts and review site which tries to highlight and recommend lesser known films, books and theatre productions
Presently, it’s just myself writing content on the site. I would now like to invite people to contribute to it in a voluntary (unpaid) capacity.
Maybe you are a blogger, writing hobbyist, or simply just have an interest in movies, TV shows, theatre productions etc., and now you want to show your love for them by writing about them. We are also very keen to add to our Horror content.
We are not a mainstream publication, and we don’t cover everything under the sun like some others do. We’re not a clickbait site full of ads either. We like to cover more independent movies and recommend lesser-known ones, we like to talk about TV shows that went under the mainstream radar, and discuss and review books that never got enough recognition.
We are not interested in Marvel / DC movies and films like that because so many other outlets cover them, so there’s no need for us to jump on that bandwagon either.
Our style is quite loose – we don’t want you to write the entire plot and mention every actor that’s in a movie. We don’t want complex jargon that causes the reader to reach for their thesaurus at every sentence. We want your opinion, your own voice, telling us how a film made you feel, what a scene in a TV show reminded you of, how a book changed your perspective on something, how it inspired you. And if it didn’t, then why didn’t it?
Maybe you would like to write something about Jim Jarmusch movies, or perhaps you want to write a spoiler-free review of a book you bought at Waterstones that wasn’t on the Bestsellers shelf.
There’s no pressure to write loads of articles, but I would like to have a bunch of regular contributors to add content which will be posted on the website and on our social media platforms.
If this sounds like it’s up your street then please email me (Tony) at firstname.lastname@example.org with a link(s) to some examples of your writing and, if possible (but not a necessity), a brief bio as well.
Please put the following text in the subject line of the email so I can find it amongst the clutter in my inbox: YOUR NAME / CONTENT WRITER WANTED /
Look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers, Tony @ Gonzo Magazine
